S2Tech was founded in 1997 by Day Veerlapati, a native of India who immigrated to the U.S. to work as a software engineer for McDonnell Douglas and Union Pacific Railroad.
The company “enables client success through effective information management solutions” and has grown from a single office in Chesterfield to multiple offices across the U.S. and an offshore development center in India.

Today, S2Tech has more than 150 employees and provides support for legacy COBOL mainframe applications as well as the evolving JAVA and .NET service-oriented architecture system environments.

The company’s executive management team has a combined 114 years of information technology and project management experience, which allows them to adapt quickly to changes in client needs and industry demands. They have a stellar record of delivering information technology products on time and on budget, often a rarity in this industry. Whether working in their offices, onsite in the client’s office or offshore, they offer tremendous flexibility to do whatever is necessary to accommodate their customers.

In fact, from the very beginning the company has been adamant about meeting client budgets and deadlines. That focus has never changed. To that end, they have added a  fixed-price model that other companies don't always offer. S2Tech customers can rely on that predictability and can be certain that the company will meet their deadlines and provide a high quality deliverable for the price agreed on.

In the future, S2Tech will continue to expand in the healthcare industry. The Healthcare Reform Act offers tremendous opportunity as hospitals, doctors and insurers must begin sharing information in a standardized way. Simply being able to transfer a patient's medical records from a doctor to a hospital to an insurer will present huge information technology demands on the healthcare system – along with great opportunity for S2Tech. “In my view, the future is exceedingly bright,” said Veerlapati.

S2Tech has been recognized by the St. Louis Minority Business Council as a Top 20 MBE, the St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association as a Top 50 Technology Company and Veerlapati has been named a Top Minority Businessperson by the St. Louis Business Journal.

Since 1973, the St. Louis Minority Business Council (SLMBC) has served as one of the premier strategic business partners in the region. In our early days, we focused primarily on matching minority vendors with area companies for local purchases, such as office products. Over time, we have transformed into a true business ally and an active participant in the St. Louis region’s economic growth.

For our corporate partners, we serve as a key conduit for the execution of supplier diversity programs. At the same time, we act as advocates for Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) and look for multiple avenues to ensure that their businesses continue to grow over time.

Today, MBEs generate more than $2.5 billion in revenues and account for nearly 7,000 jobs in the region.

SLMBC is committed to promoting partnerships with MBEs among major U.S. corporations through strategic marketing and communications programs that educate majority companies on the benefits of doing business with minority entrepreneurs. As we continue to make these strategic business connections, we will also look for innovative ways to become an even greater asset to our partners.

Our goal: to increase the amount of dollars spent with minority vendors, while helping member corporations develop and maintain the highest-quality diversity-procurement programs.

The result: a strengthened regional economy.

From The President
From Golf to the Gala…

I want to thank all 124 participants and our 21 sponsors who made the 16th Annual SLMBC Golf Classic a huge success! This networking event on September 23 brought corporate members and MBEs together for business, pleasure and some healthy competition.

Now we turn our attention to the annual SLMBC Excellence Awards. Nomination forms have been mailed or you can go to our website at www.slmbc.org. The deadline for nominations is October 4, and I encourage all of you to recognize those companies you have worked with throughout the year – whether it’s a corporate member or MBE. Of course, you can nominate your own company, and in doing so, don’t forget those who have helped your company become deserving of recognition.

The SLMBC Excellence Awards, based on strict criteria, says a lot about your company – whether it’s your commitment to developing successful diverse partnerships or your commitment to excellence in delivering your products and services. In these tough economic times, meaningful recognition is appreciated even more by those who have performed “above and beyond.”

Please take time now to submit your nominations and make a positive impact on those who work with you to achieve excellence. Then be sure to join us at the Awards Gala on December 3.
